Dyslexia

Dyslexia is one of the Specific Learning disabilities.  People with dyslexia have trouble recognizing and pronouncing words when they are seen in print. It is believed to be caused by a breakdown in communications between different areas in the brain, sometimes called phonemic awareness.

The exact causes of dyslexia are not yet known. In a fully functional person, specific (multiple) brain regions are involved when they’re reading. For people with dyslexia, different brain areas and neural pathways are active when reading.

There is a high degree of comorbidity between dyslexia and ADHD. People with ADHD may also exhibit symptoms similar to dyslexia without actually having the same disorder. People with dyslexia or ADHD can be dysfluent readers. They leave out parts of what they are reading, skip words, and lose their place.
