Co-Existing Conditions / Comorbidity

Co-Existing Conditions / Comorbidity

If a person is diagnosed as having more than one condition or illness at the same time, these are called Co-Existing Conditions. Other terms used include Comorbidity, dual diagnosis, or co-occurring disorders. These terms all mean the same thing.

Some children diagnosed with ADHD may also be diagnosed as having other disorders as well, such as anxiety, depression, behavior or conduct problems, or learning disorders. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has found that about half of all children with ADHD have a behavior or conduct problem, and about one-third have anxiety.
