Classroom Behavior Management

Classroom Behavior Management

Classroom Behavior Management describes the guidelines teachers should apply to create an optimal learning environment to encourage positive behavior and academic engagement by their students while minimizing disruptions.

The primary components of Classroom Behavior Management are:

  1. Students must understand the basic requirements for classroom etiquette.
  2. Students must understand that rules apply uniformly to everyone
  3. Students must understand that consequences will flow if they don’t follow the rules.

In return, teachers serve as role models for their students, behaving respectfully, courteously, and enthusiastically.

A classroom that includes both students with Attention-deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and those without may need specialized Classroom Behavior Management techniques. ADHD children may require different forms or frequencies of rule monitoring and reinforcement compared to their peers.
