Accommodations

Accommodations

Accommodations relate to changes to the learning environment curriculum to better serve children with special needs or learning differences. Accommodations can include test presentations, extended time, different testing locations, and variations in how the material is presented and/or taught to students.

It is important to differentiate the term “accommodation” in the context of ADHD from the same term in the context of vision. In some cases, one of the contributing factors to ADHD can be problems with visual accommodation. This relates to the difficulty that people may have with reading close-up material. It can potentially lead to difficulties in the classroom environment that can be confused with ADHD.
