Virilization

Virilization happens when a female shows male-like features because of male hormones or when a baby is born with signs of male hormone exposure. Sometimes, the ovaries get bigger due to certain cysts, like those in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which can cause virilization, but these cases are usually mild.
