Self-Regulation

Self-regulation refers to the ability to manage one's emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in accordance with long-term goals. In the case of people with ADHD, self-regulation may be significantly impaired, leading to difficulties in controlling impulses, staying on task, organizing activities, and managing emotional responses. Strategies to improve self-regulation often involve behavioral interventions, skill-building activities, and sometimes medication.
